Origins & history
Onyxia’s original story belongs to the black dragonflight’s manipulation of Stormwind and the confrontation in Dustwallow Marsh. Her identity as Lady Katrana Prestor connects the cave to a much wider political deception.
Why we enter
During Wrath, Blizzard reintroduced the encounter at level 80 to celebrate World of Warcraft’s fifth anniversary. This catalog entry records that version; it should not be read as a second canonical expedition after her original death.
The story inside
The raid preserves the recognizable confrontation with Onyxia, her brood and her flight through the cavern. Its revised raid sizes and rewards belong to the anniversary release rather than a new narrative premise.
Aftermath & legacy
The Classic article contains the historical account of her schemes and defeat. Her later undead appearance belongs to Cataclysm’s Blackwing Descent, a separate event from this anniversary recreation.
