A prison revolt exposes the reach of the Defias Brotherhood inside Stormwind itself.
Origins & history
The Stockade is the prison beneath Stormwind’s canal district. Its cells hold violent criminals, insurgents and prisoners taken from the kingdom’s surrounding territories. Warden Thelwater administers the complex, but a revolt drives his guards out of the occupied wings.
Bazil Thredd, a Defias figure imprisoned within the city, becomes the central target. The dungeon connects the disorder in Westfall to institutions inside the capital: the Brotherhood’s influence has reached farther than the mines where Edwin VanCleef built his warship.
Why we enter
Thelwater asks adventurers to restore control. Other quests seek justice against particular inmates, including enemies of Redridge, Duskwood and Ironforge. For Alliance investigators following the Defias story, Thredd also represents a lead in the conspiracy surrounding the kingdom.
The story inside
The compact cell blocks contain Targorr the Dread, Kam Deepfury, Dextren Ward and the ogre Hamhock. Bruegal Ironknuckle is a rare prisoner rather than a required part of every expedition. Their separate backgrounds explain why several communities have unfinished business in the same jail.
Bazil Thredd waits at the end of the investigation. Killing him suppresses the uprising’s leadership, but also closes off a potential source of answers. The trail back through Stormwind’s contacts therefore continues outside the dungeon instead of ending neatly with the prison cleared.
Aftermath & legacy
The guards can reassert control, while the broader Defias investigation continues toward the corruption surrounding the court. Those encounters do not belong to this Classic account.
