Origins & history

Ragefire Chasm lies below Orgrimmar, reached through the Cleft of Shadow. Lava and deep tunnels shelter creatures that have little interest in the city growing above them. Troggs occupy part of the cave system, while the Searing Blade establishes a more deliberate threat: a cult connected to the Shadow Council.

Thrall’s Horde was founded in rejection of demonic slavery. A secret organization devoted to the old warlocks, operating inside its capital, threatens both the city’s security and the meaning of that break with the past.

Why we enter

Horde adventurers investigate the caverns, recover evidence and confront the cult’s leaders. Thrall’s campaign against hidden demonic influence extends through informants outside the dungeon; the descent supplies proof that the danger is real. Other errands concern the troggs and people lost among them.

The story inside

Oggleflint leads the troggs in the outer tunnels. Farther inside, Taragaman the Hungerer gives the conspiracy a visible demonic presence. The warlock Jergosh the Invoker and the satyr Bazzalan remain the cult leaders the expedition must reach.

The transition from cave-dwelling creatures to organized cultists changes the mission from clearing a hazard into uncovering an enemy within. Recovering the cult’s writings and eliminating its leaders helps expose the network beneath the city.

Aftermath & legacy

The strike disrupts this foothold without destroying every remnant of the Shadow Council. Ragefire is an early lesson that the Horde’s enemies are not confined to distant battlefields.
