The Forsaken reclaimed their own wills after being raised into the Scourge.
The plague and the Lich King’s armies killed countless people in Lordaeron, then denied them rest. When his control weakened after the Third War, some undead regained their freedom. Calling themselves the Forsaken, they had to build a society while facing the fear and hostility of those who still lived.
