The Books Beneath Echo Ridge

A chewed book found on a kobold gives the trouble at Echo Ridge a different shape. Brother Paxton recognizes a problem reaching into Northshire’s own library: the kobolds have been carrying away its books. He asks for the stolen volumes back and seeks help from Kelsey Fargo, the mining apprentice outside Echo Ridge. Inside the abbey, assistant Daniel is also needed to establish what is missing.

Kelsey has heard the kobolds calling out about pictures for Narf. The apparently senseless theft now has a destination: Shinyfinder Narf, deeper in the mine, has a sack of the books. Kelsey sends the recruit to recover it and bring it to McBride, recommending a companion for the dangerous descent. What began as damaged property has become an investigation shared by the library, the miners and the guards.
